Archery offers individual, pairs and team events for athletes with disabilities who are either standing or wheelchair competitors and is a sport that disabled athletes can compete on an equal basis with able-bodied people.
There are specific rules relating to wheelchair competitors, however all other rules of competition comply with able-bodied archery. Wheelchair archers are divided into 2 classes however there are other classifications for standing archers. Wheelchair archers compete in either W1 for quadriplegic archers, and allows a release mechanism or W2, which is open to all wheelchair archers. All classes must comply with FITA rules.
As archers with physical impairments can compete equally with able bodied archers participants are aligned with archery clubs in their area.
