/ Wheelchair Tennis
Wheelchair Tennis is an exciting and skilful sport that requires the athlete to manoeuvre the wheelchair while in control of the racquet. Wheelchair tennis is played as per able-bodied rules with one major modification – the ball is allowed to bounce twice before a player must hit it. All aged players are eligible to play wheelchair tennis if they have a permanent mobility-related disability.
Players are classified into either the quadriplegic division, for players with a disability in upper and lower limbs or the open division for all other players. In competition, players are also seeded into categories according to the level of their skill.
Wheelchair Sports WA is working in partnership with Tennis West to deliver tennis program for those that want to participate competitively and recreationally.
